Olive Wood Statue St. Francis of Assisi Holding Birds
Dimensions:
W 3.5" x H 11.5"
St. Francis of Assisi, Patron Saint of Animals, is easily recognized by the carved detail of his long flowing monk's robe and cap. The handcrafted birds at his hand symbolize his special bond with birds who would follow him everywhere, land on his clothes and listen to his spiritual messages with open beaks.
Birds represent spiritual freedom and growth. Francis saw them as symbols of God's encouragement to continue preaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ at a time when he was considering retirement into solitary prayer.
This in-home sized olive wood carving is in the image of famous statues seen in gardens all over the world. It reminds us of the beauty in all God's creatures even to the point where Francis provided Christmas celebrations for all the animals.
