Olive Wood Bust of St. Teresa Holding Cross
W 6"x H 8"
St. Teresa of Ávila, was a Spanish noblewoman, very charming, popular, and as a young woman, she could easily slip into worldly life. After her Mother's death, she felt called to convent life and travelled all across Spain opening Carmelite Nun convents and making reforms along the way.
This carved olive wood bust of her holding a cross represents a prominent Spanish mystic, theologian, religious reformer, a Doctor of the Church and a Nun before her time. She was her own woman, talented, beautiful and courageous.
A handicraft statue of this quality is a good starting point for the research and study of Teresa. A much relatable religious figure her writings are some of the most remarkable mystical literature in the Church.
