Jesus Wearing a Crown of Thorns Olive Wood Statue
W 3.9" x H 8.4"
For Christians, the crown of thorns represents the truth that Jesus is King, and that one day the universe will bow to Him as the "King of kings and Lord of lords." Rev 19:16 (NIV)
As a form of mockery, Roman soldiers placed the crown of thorns on Jesus' head. On this artefact from the Holy Land, the grain of this sacred olive tree wood statue echoes the blood that stained His face at the act of scorn.
As he suffered for our sins, the Roman ridicule failed because He portrayed Christ's two roles. One of a suffering servant and the other of conquering Messiah-King.
