Olive Wood Hand Carved St. Francis Statue
W 6.3" x H 11"
Our hand made artifact of St. Francis shows him holding a bird in his hand with animals about his feet. This tall lean version of the Patron Saint of Animals, is hand carved in olive wood from the Holy Land.
St. Francis saw all creatures, plants, animals, the planets, stars and moon as his sisters and brothers in God. The wolf in this art piece represents the wolf he tamed when it had been devouring the residents of a town. He persuaded it to forego predatory ways in the belief that it was a creature of God’s.
Olive wood is harvested in Israel every two years and is only taken from the pruned branches of the olive wood trees. Our master craftsmen then carve the wood into beautiful religious artifacts for your enjoyment and to collect as keepsakes and heirlooms.
Pope Francis took his name from St. Francis of Assisi making this one-of-a-kind handicraft particularly notable. Mounted on a hand carved base, this is a wonderful piece for any home or office
